Where To Pickup Women

I am from America and will be visiting a friend in a small town in the Scottish Borders in 2 weeks. I will be meeting a lot of new people and was wondering what is the correct way to greet there? Shaking hands?

Ok i’ve been told and have seen over the years that those who generalize an entire people or ethnicity are jerks and the list of names goes on. ok so don’t tell me i already know. Now my question about 13 years ago I started dating and got with a very odd woman she was disliked by everyone that came in contact with her. she was seen as a lier and something worse well i didn’t know what was worse and i didn’t understand how talking to her for a few minutes made her a lier. I was very much dumb in the way of human interaction all i know is if someone was hurt help them if someone was sick make them better and if someone needed you help them i did my job well as a CNA.
well this girl walked up to me and didn’t ask but told me to be at this address at this time. so i did i know dumb. Well i dated her and after a time ended up marrying her after all no one else seemed to want to go out with me. i kicked myself for years after i found out what flirting was from women. i know once more that is sad but still. now then. after our first year of marriage she stopped cleaning house when i was working and starting acting strange her kids was scared of her all the time. a few months after that started i ended up getting sick bad sick. when i had my first episode of a heart attack like symptoms and my family rushed me to the hospital i had rat poison and some other unknowns in my system well i divorced her quickly and worked with the kids dad to get his kids the county nearly denied him but she then tried to kill them they where comatose for a bit and he got them. so we cheered and had a party for the kids. needless to say my idea of saying surprise me when asked what do i want to eat and telling her that she is a human being if you want to go do something fun do it. seems to be a bad answer toward people.
Well for 12 years i generalized and refused to date after all women tried to kill me i stopped and looked at it and come to the conclusion that not women but a woman did and i shouldn’t generalize i did that too much in my life and i missed out on some good friends that later turned out to be the nicest people i ever came across. i am thinking though i should ask because all my friends say you never give a woman a freedom to choose you put them on a short leash or it will happen again and again. that women are animals well not quite animals but if i have to sit back and tell someone what to do an adult woman then 1 she isn’t very smart and should be in a home and 2 she is nuts and i am scared of her. lol.
what is wrong with treating women with respect now if doing so gets this to happen again then i’m gonna go for another 13 years without dating after all my first attempt nearly killed me my second attempt was a disappointment didn’t realize women where just like men and some just wanted to get laid and run off. but now i know and i no longer generalize or stereotype women as being wholesome kind nice creatures they are one of the guys just softer to touch and so much more interesting to look at.
so why should i not treat a woman with respect and give her freedom to think for herself not all women are like that and not all men are either i have read bad stories about men to heck i have bad stories about both genders non romantic or dating but where i’ve seen people murder and harm both emotionaly and physicaly that alone should turn me against people and almost has but after this last attempt at dateing i kinda wanna give it a school boy try and see if i can’t at least take someone out to dinner and maybe watch a movie. i know with my lack of experiance that i probably won’t even get that far but i wanna give it a shot so how should i treat them not like crap i hope and how do you pick up a woman without giveing the wrong vibe of wanting nothing more than to get naked later on that night? i want someone i can treat with respect and will return it. and have no idea how to find someone like that. what do i look for how do i approach things like that is what i want answered. ok long story short question but asked so answer.

I want to meet some women and some new friends that like to party. How would I go about meeting them and making friends? All my friends I’ve known for years and I make a lot of new friends, but mostly through other friends. At this school I will no nobody. What do I do to meet women/friends?

I was just watching that VH1 show the pick up artist, It was the first episode where all the nerds go into a party and screw up, then the pick up master goes in and talks to every single girl and gets all the attention and everything, and I can see why, he was confident and he looked better then all the other guys.

Im looking at that and Im think yeah, I wish i could do that, but all the dating tips i read for guys are just about how to get laid, What do I do If I actually want to talk to a girl and try to start a relationship, how do I meet women if I want that, Im not the kind of person who can just jump from women to women without caring

Am i screwed.

I’m not saying a player..
although misconcieved as a player, a pickup artist just tests himself..
and some girls don’t like it when you pick up on they’re friends..
even once i went up to a girl and said, "Hey there, i just wanted to tell you, you are really stunning, and my buddy back there doesn’t think you’d be willing to give me a phone number." and as the girl took out her phone, her friend said "Buddy, i’ll chop your *ahem* off and stick it down your throat, if you pick up on my girl here."
the girl was about to give her number, i saw no regret on her face, but i guess i was wrong?
Well i’m not unnattractive, but i’m not the hottest thing out there..
